Temporary Delay

I'm going to get laser eye surgery today, and I'm not supposed to use a computer for about a week afterwards. I could power through a bunch of reviews today and post-date them (and I've done that before) but I'm going to take this as an opportunity to take a bit of a break. I've been spending more time doing my own art and I've been enjoying it more now that I have all this wonderful insight from reviewing. I've also been added to the team for a new feature-length film project. And the weather has been getting nicer, so I will be doing some music videos and short movies, as well as helping my sister with her craft fair business as that season starts up in the next few weeks.

I want to thank all of you who have contributed art, and who have read the reviews! I have every intention of coming back, but as often happens with projects like these, it may get lost in the wayside, so I want to say goodbye now while you're all still here and reading, and hopefully I'll get to say hello again soon.

Aqualiurtus - Lunarieen

Aqualiurtus
It's over 9000! The pageviews on this website, that is. I looked for a short while to find a piece that would fit that obvious reference, but I mostly got very poor and rushed fan art. Instead, I delved into my list of future reviews for some jewellery. I have a special section of pieces I would want to own; pieces that go beyond being artistic and onto something you want to show off to others. This piece, by Kasia Mielnik (DA's Lunarieen) is one of those pieces.

Last Drill Bit Knife - Logan-Pearce

Last Drill Bit Knife
It's Easter Monday (and April Fool's day!) and normally I'd take the holiday to do something holiday themed. I spent my holiday weekend running statistics and doing inventory for a restaurant so I'm not exactly in the spirit this year. I figure I'd buck the trend here too and just do whatever I wanted! I was lucky enough to find another crafter, Logan Pearce (DA: Logan-Pearce), and an excellent one at that. Most crafters on DA are first generation, but Logan is third. He takes years of tradition and combines it with the great creativity of youth to come up with knives like this one, from a series called Remnants where the knives are made out of previously smithed objects (in this case a drill bit).

42 - Wintenso

42
So, my number of pageviews has dropped lately and it's also really been fluctuating... except for the last three days in a row it has been the same number each day (no bonus points for guessing what the number is). It looks like Deep Thought has had a hand in my stats. It also probably played a part in this creation by Jonas Pfeiffer (DA's Wintenso).

Fail EPICLY - DoubtingSalmon

Fail EPICLY
If you're going to fail - and you are - fail epicly! That's what I think, and DoubtingSalmon (DA: DoubtingSalmon) thinks so too (as do Erebus-Odora and Samuel Beckett). I lamented yesterday about the challenges of working in three dimensions when making art but I don't think I explained much about the benefits that depth gives to a piece, in making it feel real.

Leather Butterfly iPhone/iTouch Case - SpiritOfTheDragon

Leather Butterfly iPhone/iTouch Case
I found another leather-worker! The first one had wild masks that, while cool, weren't very practical unless you were cosplaying, which is a time when everyone is wearing crazy stuff so yours won't stand out that much. This piece, by Jo (DA's SpiritOfTheDragon) is meant to be used and shown off in a usual day-to-day setting where it is more likely to be noticed and appreciated.
